This section welcomes original and review manuscripts, and commentaries focusing on the description, development and assessment of health information systems and HIS approaches at local, regional, national and international level. Many definitions on a health information system exist; in this section we will use a broad description: a health information system can be defined as the total of resources, stakeholders, activities and outputs enabling evidence-informed health policy-making.
